Old Temple

Description

Old Temple is a soul-like level inspired by Stormveil Castle in Elden Ring.

Main Object: Your objective is to recover 8 Spirit Pieces, the key to unlocking the temple's ultimate mechanism, hidden within the temple's hall on the first-floor.

Story: You are an old king of this ancient temple. Once upon a day, a high-tech enemy of the modern era invaded your temple, subjecting you to inhumane treatment and locked you in the prison. After enduring excruciating torment, you died in suffering. Now, as a soul, you need to return to the temple stealthy or break in through the front gate, finding out the enigmatic trigger (mission).

Because the level has multiple routes(choices). Thus, in the demo, I only show one of the routes to pass the level.

Game Mechanics

In this section, I will only list some important game mechanics. If you want to see all the game mechanics that I used, you can download the level.

Staff

The most important mechanic I added to this level is the Staff. The Staff can trigger the Conveying hanger and combat with the enemy.

Enemy

I set few enemies patrolling by given routes.

Players can choose to combat with these enemies by using the staff or dodge from them stealthy.

Here are some other tiggers I added in the level. In the jumple puzzle area, I add Security Camera(damage zone), conveyor belt and movable platform.

Level Iterations

Base on the feedback, I made the iterations on the level.

1. Set more covers to create some safe zone.

For example, when players slide into this room, there will be an enemy patrolling, but players need a safe place for them to observe.

2. Some platforms change

For example, the platform in 2nd floor room of Temple, some players cannot jump on this platform because there is a fence around the platform. Thus, I rotate the platform.
